About Our Officials
Our officials are a vital part of Fort Nelson Minor Hockey – ensuring fair play, safety, and respect on the ice.
We are proud of our team of dedicated referees and linesmen who keep our games running smoothly each season.
Officiating not only supports our players but also help develop leadership confidence, and a deeper understanding of the game.
Become an Official
Interested in becoming a referee? We’re always looking for new officials to join our team!
Requirements
- Must be at least 12 years old by December 31 of the current season.
- Must complete the Hockey Canada Officiating Program (HCOP) certification.
- Attend an annual referee clinic (Level 1 or higher, depending on experience).
- Any Referees over the age of 18 must pass a criminal record check as set out by BC Hockey.
Steps to Get Started
- Visit BC Hockey’s Officiating Page for clinic dates and registration details.
- Register through HCR (Hockey Canada Registry)
- Contact our local Referee-in-Chief once you’ve completed your certification.
